Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Cocoa Sarai just dropped her new single, THE woman empowerment anthem “No Apologies”!
Produced by Grammy-winning producers Focus… and Dem Jointz, “No Apologies” is an uptempo, funk & soul-laden dance jam with a bold lyrical twist. Cocoa doesn’t pull any punches when telling a love interest what she wants and what she needs.
“Women don’t have to be one thing – men are never asked to be ONE thing – and we’re NOT apologizing for it!” –Cocoa Sarai
The track follows the release of “Strange Fame“, a single that was created in response to police brutality suffered by Cocoa’s brother in the aftermath of the George Floyd protests. “This is not another protest song, it’s a call to action!”, says Cocoa.
Raised in a musical family in Brooklyn, Cocoa Sarai has worked with an array of high-profile artists during her career, including Dr. Dre and Busta Rhymes, also lending her songwriting skills to Academy Award-winning director Lee Daniels. More recently, she contributed to eight of the fourteen songs found on Anderson .Paak’s 2018 LP ‘Oxnard’ and again provided her vocals and pen on his latest album ‘Ventura’, which won the 2020 Grammy for “Best R&B Album.”
“No Apologies” is about exuding confidence and positive energy, an attitude that Cocoa hopes this track will instill in women everywhere.
